Remembrance options

Following cremation
You may eventually decide to keep the cremated remains, to scatter them in a favourite place or to create a burial place that the family might share on anniversaries. You may prefer to keep a small portion within a keepsake or within specialist crafted memorial jewellery. We will help you with each of these options when you are ready. Plots for burial may be purchased in most city cemeteries, as well as at some woodland grounds. Bill Kane has his own stone masonry company at Landmark Memorials and we can give you his contact details if you need help with the administrative forms, rights and ownership steps, and wish to purchase a memorial stone in tribute to your loved ones's life.
There is no rush to plan this. If you don't feel ready to have the remains returned to you, we will keep then safe for you at no cost, until the time feels right. Just take your time, talk to us when you're ready and know that we will listen and advise.

Following burial
You may already have a headstone, if a family grave was used, and may want to add an inscription. If the grave is new, you may want to think about a formal memorial. There is no rush. We will be happy to supply a marker cross, bearing the name of your loved one whilst you have a think about what you would like to do - and we'll be there for you to help you further with your plans for a memorial when the time feels right. Bill Kane has his own stone masonry company at Landmark Memorials and we will happily pass on the contact details so that Bill might guide you through the steps and help you choose a headstone and inscription that expresses in the most fitting way possible your love, gratitude and memories.

Home memorials
Sometimes a emmorial at home might feel like the right option - maybe something to mark a spot in the garden, or mark a favourite place. This may be a plaque outside or simply a framed photograph, beautiful vase for an area at home. We'll help you to look at options in our OPTIONS Memorial Gallery and to source what feels right. Visit the Gallery by appointment and we will be happy to show you the options.

Christmas tribute
Each year we invite bereaved families to our premises to place commemorative stars on our native trees of memory - usually three trees for the gentlemen, ladies and children who have passed during that year. It's lovely for us to catch up with you, have a cuppa with you and do this small thing to help you know that you are not alone this first, hard Christmas.

Anniversary Memorial Event
In the Spring/Summer following the year of your loss, we will plant the trees purchased at Christmas and will invite you and your family to the anniversary event where the names of all loved ones who passed away during the previous year will be read out as we dedicate our trees. Currently we are planting at Bingley St Ives - in a different spot each year. The trees are not marked in any way (but you know where they are) and the ground requests that flowers etc are not left. They are simply replenishing nature in the most natural way - but with a message for those of us who have a life associated with them: trees of love, trees of life - you can't get more special than that!

Entry in our Memorial Book
After the funeral of your loved one, we will enter their name in our Book of Memory at our premises, where the page is turned each day of the year. Both their dates of birth and date of passing will always be commemorated with us.

All places that we shared are places of memory - whether formally marked or simply revisited.
